While the Rangers are still mathematically in contention, it is safe to say this will be another season where the Rangers will miss the playoffs. While it is disappointing there is much to look forward to in the future and for the first time the pitching carried its weight for the bulk of the season.
This offseason I hope G.M. Jon Daniel does not try to get any high priced free agent pitcher assuming the team is sold. The one change I would make, and it hurts me to say this, is to get a new hitting coach. Rudy Jaramillo has been solid for such a long time now but it looks like his words are falling on deaf ears. There is no reason why the Rangers could only score 1 run against Oakland at home even if Mike Young and Josh Hamilton weren't in the lineup. If they can find another hitting coach who can have a positive impact on the hitters in the way Mike Maddux had a positive impact on the pitchers this year then the Rangers can win the division next year.
